Wisdom of Death and Life

As we continued studying Paul’s provocative teaching about the foolishness of the cross and true wisdom in 1 Corinthians chapter 2, David pointed out the way worldly wisdom presumes death and thus is incapable of offering life:

Steve Jobs said, “Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life.” He is talking about “wisdom.” And his wisdom is founded on the fact, “I’ll be dead soon.” His wisdom may be a good guideline in “making a big choice in life.” But his wisdom is actually his darkness. He always remembers the fact “I will be dead soon.” So, even the best choice will end in vain and he will harvest futility. In this sense, we can say that there is no wisdom in the world. Although we all work hard for better life, it’s a struggle in darkness, and at the end we find ourselves with empty hands.
